Resources
There are a number of resources available online the help parents, teachers and students navigate the challenges of social media. In some ways, there are too many! We recommend the following.
From the Common Sense website, "Since 2003, Common Sense has been the leading source of entertainment and technology recommendations for families and schools. Every day, millions of parents and educators trust Common Sense reviews and advice to help them navigate the digital world with their kids. Together with policymakers, industry leaders, and global media partners, we're building a digital world that works better for all kids, their families, and their communities." Marymount is in the process of earning our Common Sense School certification. From the website, "We keep students safe on social media so they can shine online." Smart Social features free parent and educator resources along with courses and tutorials to help students and parents use social media with a purpose. The website includes over 300 resources - with new articles released weekly. Geared toward older students, Social Assurity works with parents, educators and college counselors.
